Music through the Internet Universe - Kathryn Staples

 Hey everyone! I hope you are all enjoying CS371 so far! 

I decided to choose something from one of my favourite apps on my phone, Spotify. I use Spotify everyday, whether that be listening to music in the car, listening to a podcast on the way to school or even listening to music while doing class readings. Music helps me to focus. One playlist that I especially like to listen to is the Motion Picture Soundtrack for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I am a huge Marvel fan and this is one of my favourite movies in the entire MCU. Since there are no lyrics, I find it nice to have it playing in the background while studying or doing class readings. I have even seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier so many times that if I so choose, I can put myself right in the exact moment in the movie and forget about the real world for a few minutes. 

I also listen to some playlists from my favourite hockey players and I really appreciate that Spotify takes the songs you listen to and gives you suggestions for new songs to try. This lets me discover bands and songs that I may not have found on my own.

    I as well use Spotify as my platform for music, podcasts, and exploration of media! I find this app to be very productive as their algorithm creates specified playlists that I would enjoy. Not only does this allow me to explore music efficiently, it allows me to save the time of scrolling through and listening to various songs to create my lists!

International Podcasts on Youtube

Hello everyone in CS371! My name is Matthew Spina and I would like to focus my first blog post around a podcast I typically watch on Youtube called The Fellas . The U.K based podcast, hosted by Youtuber's Calfreezy and TheBurntChip, has been running for almost a year amassing over 350,000 subscribers. They primarily discuss ongoing pop culture moments happening around the world to their past life experiences while also inviting guest's onto the show to provide deeper insights into their lives. For example, these guests could range from fellow Youtuber's to watch collectors and comedians.  The Fellas  podcast is also available on multiple platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify providing listeners with the ability to both view and listen to their weekly episodes.       The Fellas podcast is a great example as to how social media and social life can be intertwined while providing the ability to connect humans on a global scale. BLOG POST 3 - Seif Amer

  In class we discussed the concept of media assemblages or media ecologies which are a collection of forms and practices that facilitate a specific media environment. A media ecology can be understood and analyzed by the use of three distinct articulations.  The articulation of focus is #3, which focuses on how the medium is brought to life, and how it is spread through a culture, community or society to best deliver the message. This means taking advantage of spatio-temporal concepts of media distribution, creation and consumption.
