Podcasts: A Fulfilling Pass Time (Keelin Levasseur)
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd introduce myself to the blog environment by talking about one of my favourite medium of entertainment: podcasts!
Whether you listen to them on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or anywhere else, podcasts never cease to be a great pass time. It's almost like watching a movie! Except you don't have the restrictions of sitting down and actually paying attention to the scenes playing before your eyes on screen.
For me, podcasts continue to be a medium of entertainment for individuals who are constantly on the go. They can be consumed while doing basic household chores like laundry or dishes, while commuting to and from work, on a walk at the park, and on many other occasions. Podcasts don't need your full attention but you still get the full experience during it's consumption.
Personally, my favourite type of podcasts are those that focus on true crime stories. They're extremely captivating and I find at times they can even be helpful to the listeners. Whether it be giving victims a voice that they no longer have, relaying messages and advice to those who may find themselves in dangerous situations or even spreading information regarding ongoing cases that may help those in danger. Two particular podcasts come to mind when it comes to true crime podcasts.
The first being "My Favorite Murder" hosted by Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff. This podcast is nothing but entertaining and continues to be a great distraction for me on busy and stressful days.
The second being "Crime Junkie" hosted by Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat. Which is another podcast that keeps me entertained and on my toes while I complete my household chores.
Below I've attached the link to both of their websites in case anyone is interested in checking them out!

Crime Junkie: https://crimejunkiepodcast.com/
Over all, I think podcasts are an extremely underrated part of social media because they are so unique in the way that they deliver entertainment. This is another reason why I find podcasts to be one of my favourite aspects of social media.
Do any of you have any podcast suggestions?
Thanks for reading, all the best,
Keelin Levasseur

Hi Keelin!
ReplyDeleteMany of my friends and family members love podcasts and I have yet to start listening to any. This has been something I wanted to do for a while, however, did not know which one to start. I love to watch crime documentaries and docuseries, so I think true crime podcasts would be right up my alley! I will be sure to check out the ones you have linked. Thank you for you suggestions!

Hey Keelin! Recently, I haven't spent a lot of time listening to podcasts, but last winter semester my sister and I were obsessed with Crime Junkie! We listened to it at all times of the day, even while we did readings and course work for our classes—which I must admit was pretty difficult to achieve. But once we got into the first 2 minutes of Ashley Flowers' description of a new episode, we were hooked, they are so hard to turn off when she tells the story so well! Growing up, my other sister used to watch a lot of NCIS and Law and Order shows, which gave younger-me quite vivid nightmares that kind of carried through my teen years (hahah I mostly forgive her now), but having the story told over complete audio was entrancing and I liked it a lot more than watching True Crime on TV.
