Technology and Articulation

One of the readings assigned titled Articulation and Assemblage by Jennifer Daryl Slack & J. Macgregor Wise discusses technology as articulation. To break down the meaning of this title, we can start by breaking it down and focusing independently on both articulation and technology and what these words mean independently. Articulation can be described according to dictionary.com as meaning “the act of speaking clearly” (2021). Being able to articulate one’s words while speaking will make for a clearer understanding for the receiver when communicating and thus form meaningful connections and mutual comprehension. Technology can be described as an extension of oneself according to Marshall McLuhan (1964). The use of articulation in this context is not the same as the meaning found on dictionary.com and is rather used as meaning “connections” that are dependent on something else (pp.127). Would you agree to this meaning? What are other takeaways from this passage that you found interesting?
